European made. Designed and built in Scotland in small batches — not mass-produced overseas.

Built for hikers, bikepackers and fastpackers who want the absolute minimum weight without compromising on strength or holding power. Starting at just 2.4g, these are among the lightest full-strength tent stakes available. Made for those who trim labels off kit and still think it's too heavy.

Specs & weight

Weight From 2.4g per peg
Material Woven high-strength carbon fibre
Lengths 10cm (mini) and 15cm
Pack sizes 6 or 10
Made in Scotland

What's included & sizing

  • 15cm: the same length as most standard tent stakes. Best for primary tie-outs.
  • 10cm (mini): for secondary guylines and inner corners.
  • Available in packs of 6 or 10.

Field notes

  • Woven carbon fibre won't bend or twist under normal use. These drive cleanly into compacted soil and perform confidently in soft terrain such as peat and forest ground.
  • Carbon is very strong in bending and tension, and once seated provides ample strength under load. Take care in rocky ground: carbon can be brittle under compression, so don't stand on the peg to press it in.
  • From our own shelters: we mainly use the 15cm for primary tarp tie-outs, and the minis for secondary guylines and inner bivy corners.

Full details

The ULpeg Carbon Fibre is designed for hikers, bikepackers, and fastpackers who want the absolute minimum weight without compromising on strength or holding power.

Starting at just 2.4g, these are among the lightest full-strength tent stakes available. Ideal for those who trim labels off kit and still think it’s too heavy.

Constructed from woven high-strength carbon fibre, they won’t bend or twist under normal use, yet remain incredibly light. They drive cleanly into compacted soil and perform confidently in soft terrain such as peat and forest ground.

Available in two sizes, 15cm and 10cm. The larger pegs are the same length as most other tent stakes. On my own shelter, I use mainly the larger variant for primary tarp tie-outs. I use short stakes for staking out secondary guylines and the inner bivy bag corners.

Please note that woven carbon fibre is very strong in bending & tension, and once properly seated will provide ample strength under load. Caution should be used when setting up in rocky ground as carbon can be brittle under compression (think standing on the peg to press).

If you’re counting every gram but still expect your shelter to stay standing in a proper breeze, these are built for you.

Why hikers switch to ULgear

Light where it counts. Honest where it matters.

The ULgear way

  • Honest weights — the listed weight is the weighed weight
  • Better materials, sized smaller and lighter
  • Small-batch made in Scotland
  • Field-tested on real UK trails

Typical outdoor gear

  • "Marketing" weights, quietly rounded down
  • Cheaper materials made big and chunky to survive
  • Mass-produced, never actually weighed
  • Tested in a spreadsheet

Frequently asked questions

Are the listed weights accurate?
Yes. Every weight we list is the real, weighed weight of the product — not a rounded-down marketing number. If you're counting grams, so are we.

What if it's not right for me?
No drama. Check our refund policy, or email info@ulgear.co.uk and we'll sort it out.

Made by two pals who got a bit too into it

ULgear started with two of us from West Lothian weighing our kit, then each other's, then making the gear we couldn't buy. Small batches, honest weights, tested wherever in Scotland we've got a free weekend.

You should buy the product, not the brand.
